1. Coverage Information

  • Who is Covered:
    • Employee’s whole family: Husband, Wife, and Financially Dependent Children.
  • Children covered:
    • From birth to 21 years.
    • Up to 25 years if full-time students.
    • Disabled children covered as long as financially dependent.

2. Contribution

  • From as little as R120 per month.

3. Daily Admission Benefit

  • General Ward (From):
    • R300/day, R2100/week, R9000/month.
  • ICU Ward (From):
    • R450/day, R3100/week, R13,500/month.
  • Catastrophic Event:
    • Double benefits (R2,000/day) if two or more persons are hospitalised from the same accident.

7. Funeral Benefits

  • Coverage amounts (From):
    • Principal Member: R10,000
    • Spouse: R10,000
    • Child (14–21 years): R10,000
    • Child (6–13 years): R5,000
    • Child (0–5 years): R5,000
    • Stillborn: R2,000

8. Funeral Assistance

  • The benefit assists with the repatriation of mortal remains within the borders of South Africa and assistance with funeral arrangements will be provided by contacting the call centre on 0861 788 884.

 

  • (Grief counselling, assistance in identifying the deceased, referring undertakers,
    advice on applying for death certificates, referral for autopsy if needed).

 

  • A R500 airtime voucher will be supplied to the family to assist the family when making funeral arrangements.

9. Accidental Death Benefit

  • Death due to any form of accident (an unforeseen event that is directly responsible for the death,
    this excludes natural causes).
  • This includes motor vehicle accident, gunshot, and fire for example.
  • R20,000 benefit payable in the event of the principal member dying as a result of an accident,
    R20,000 for adult dependant and R20,000 in the case of a child dependant.

10. Premium Waiver Benefit

The benefits will continue for all dependants for a period of six (6) months in the event of the death or permanent and total disability of the Principal Insured Person.

11. Overall Annual Limits On Hospitalisation

Per principal member per year R100,000; and per family per year R300,000.

12. Income Protection

  • Income replacement benefit payable for a period of 6 (six) months following the total and permanent
    disability of the main member.
  • Monthly benefit for 6 months. R5,000

13. Waiting Periods and Underwriting

  • Compulsory groups: No waiting period.
  • Voluntary groups: You have a general waiting period and your benefits will only start 1 (one) Month after the inception date, it is followed by a 3 (three) month waiting period due to illness for hospitalisation and a 9 (nine) month maternity specific waiting period.
  • Hospitalisation benefit is only payable after 3 (three) consecutive days of hospitalisation due to illness. After 3 (three) days the benefit is calculated from day 1 (one). Hospitalisation due to an accident pays from day 1 (one). Maximum entry age is 60 years of age (waived for groups larger than 50).
